From July 2005 to February 2006, I co-hosted a (in retrospect) fairly historical podcast. Not only was it *very* early in the podcasting space, but it also covered one of the most tumultuous periods in Supreme Court history that had nothing to do with the cases before it.
With the retirement of Justice Sandra Day O’Connor the Supreme Court had a vacancy to be filled. The very balance of the Supreme Court was in play and President George W. Bush had the opportunity to swing the Court in a direction more favorable to the politics and judicial philosophies he and his allies espoused. The US Senate took its advise and consent role seriously, holding hearings on the nominee.
But this story took some turns. This podcast tells the tale.
